The first interregional seminar on “Unmanned Aircraft Systems” took place in Tangier from 4 to 5 October 2023, jointly organised by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) (as the implementing body of the European Union-funded CASE II Project), the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) and the US Transport Security Administration (TSA).
More than one hundred (150) participants from fifty (50) African and Arabic States, international organisations and industry stakeholders effectively participated and exchanged information and best practices during the seminar, which was animated by twenty-five (25) international experts.
The main objectives of the seminar was to discuss and review:
- Existing Regulatory Framework, and different existing approaches on the Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
- Existing Threats, Challenges and Risks associated with Drone operations;
- The latest methodologies and ways allowing the identification, detection and neutralization / control of RPAS evolving in a specific environment / area;
- Industry practices, Types of Drones and Integration in airspaces and into aerodromes Environments/Activities; and
- The Latest developments and recent innovative solutions in Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
