Sixth Meeting of Middle East North Africa Aircraft Accident and incident Investigation Regional Cooperation Mechanism (MENA ARCM/6) back-to-back with RAIO CP/4 & “Aviation Safety and Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Seminar” Symposium

In the framework of their cooperation within capacity building project, ACAO and ICAO organised jointly the sixth Meeting of Middle East North Africa Aircraft Accident and incident Investigation Regional Cooperation Mechanism (MENA ARCM/6), generously hosted by The General Civil Aviation Authority of UAE (GCAA), in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 19 November 2024, Back-to-back with this meeting, was organised the 5th meeting RAIO CP/4 & the symposium on “Aviation Safety and Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Seminar”

Capt. Aysha al Hamili, Chairperson of the Regional Coordination Mechanism Committee for Investigating Aircraft Accidents and Incidents in the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted the conference’s role as a platform for collaboration among stakeholders in the civil aviation sector, while focusing on the importance of cooperation between air accident investigation authorities via the Regional Aviation Investigation Organization or Investigation Cooperation mechanism RAIO/ICM.

The meeting provided a report Progress on Areas of Cooperation, an Update on the Collected Data regarding the accident/incident investigation as well as the data sharing solution and challenges, the MENA ARCM Technical Assistance Process and an overview on the Upcoming Events/Activities.

The meeting has been ended by a signature ceremony of the State of Qatar, joining the MENA ARCM MOU.

The Two- days symposium provided an overview on shared experiences from regulators, accident investigation authorities, RAIO/ICM and industry perspective as well as best practices on establishment of Investigation Coordination Mechanisms among the regions. The Symposium provided a platform for knowledge-sharing and setting future development  in accident and incident investigation (AIG).

The symposium successfully underscored the importance of a collaborative and adaptive approach to aviation safety and AIG. Each session reaffirmed the global aviation community’s commitment to achieving higher safety standards and fostering a unified response to challenges. Participants left with actionable insights, promising stronger cooperation and innovation in the field of accident and incident investigation.
