The General Secretariat of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) participated in the 35th Ordinary Session of the Committee of Organizations for Coordination and Follow-up, a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States. The Organization's delegation was headed by H.E. Eng. Khalid CHERKAOUI, Director General of ACAO.
The session was held at the Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo from 5 to 9 July 2026, with the participation of representatives of the Arab Member States and Directors General of the Arab Specialized Organizations.
Over the course of five days, the Committee examined a number of administrative, financial, and organizational matters related to the work of the Arab Specialized Organizations, within the framework of its mandate to enhance their efficiency and further develop their operational mechanisms, in preparation for submitting its recommendations to the 118th Ordinary Session of the Economic and Social Council.
The meetings also reviewed a number of agenda items, including the plans and budgets of the Arab Specialized Organizations for the biennium 2027-2028, the 2025 achievement reports, oversight reports, as well as a range of organizational and administrative issues concerning the Arab Specialized Organizations.
During his participation in the meeting, H.E. Eng. CHERKAOUI reaffirmed ACAO's commitment to continuously strengthening its institutional performance, promoting the principles of good governance and transparency, and implementing the decisions of its statutory bodies, in a manner that contributes to the advancement of the Arab civil aviation sector and supports the objectives of joint Arab action.
The Organization's participation reflects its commitment to actively contributing to the work of the bodies of the League of Arab States and to maintaining close coordination with the General Secretariat, the Arab Member States, and the Arab Specialized Organizations. This cooperation further strengthens institutional integration and reinforces ACAO's role as the Arab center of expertise in the field of civil aviation, while supporting sustainable development objectives and the continued advancement of the civil aviation sector across the Arab region.
