Rabat - The Arab Civil Aviation Organization organized a distance coordination meeting via the Zoom application between bringing together civil aviation security supervisors of member states of the organization, on July 09 from 09:30 to 11:00 GMT.
Twenty six civil aviation security supervisors representing sixteen ACAO´s member States participated in this meeting, namely the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Tunisian Republic, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, and the State of Palestine, The State of Qatar, the United Republic of Comoros, the State of Kuwait, the Lebanese Republic, the State of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Republic of Yemen.
The meeting aims to initiate consultation and coordination between civil aviation security supervisors in the civil aviation authorities on Corona developments, exchange of experiences, information, and best practices in terms of security procedures and facilitation when resuming back to civil aviation normal activities. The representatives of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt reviewed their countries ´experiences and exposed the challenges faced in implementing security requirements in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the best practices and future projects with regard to security procedures and facilitation upon resumption of normal civil aviation activities. The Arab Civil Aviation Organization also reviewed during the meeting an overview of the guide for security measures and procedures and facilitation for re-operating in light of the Corona pandemic, prepared by a working group composed of members of the Aviation Security Committee of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the current and future challenges facing the implementation of security requirements and facilitation in light with the new requirements related to the Corona Pandemic public health concerns, such as the requirements for civil aviation security quality control, the use of technology and artificial intelligence.
It is worth noting that this meeting falls within the framework of the efforts made by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of air traffic, the exchange of information and experiences, and the harmonization of procedures and measures undertaken by Member States.
