Paris - At the invitation of the Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Europe and North Atlantic (EurNat), the Arab Civil Aviation Organization participated in the meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation at the Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Europe and North Atlantic (EurNat), on February 24, 2021.

Eighty-seven participants representing the member states of the EurNat Regional Office of ICAO and other regional organizations (The Arab Civil Aviation Organization, The European Civil Aviation Conference, The European Air Safety Committee, and the International Air Transport Association) attended the meeting, which was organized via visual communication technology.

Discussions and interventions of experts and senior officials focused on procedures and measures accompanying the process of distributing COVID 19 vaccines by air, including encouraging countries to adopt the seventh freedom of airfreight rights and their cooperation, and aspects related to the operational safety of air cargo flights:

  • Facilitating air navigation;
  • Digitization of the air cargo process;
  • Classification of vaccines as hazardous substances, traceability, and temperature control;
  • Air cargo and facility security requirements;
  • Health Safety Corridors - PHC; and
  • Mutual recognition of vaccine certificates.

Some countries and regional organizations also reviewed their experience and lessons learned regarding the process of distributing vaccines for COVID 19.
